Race Map

The race start will be outside Berry Patch caravan park along the road further than The Berry Patch Café entrance. Parking for vehicles will be near the start on the edge of the road, not at the Berry Patch carpark.

NB This year we are running in an anti-clockwise direction.

Runners head east along Blackburn Dr to a point where they will be directed over the railway line.  The course heads north-east, crossing the vacant block to Boyes St and then onto the boardwalk until the end of Lukin St. Turn right and follow the path through the bush (not down the grass lane) and onto the Esplanade.  Follow the Esplanade remaining on the right (sea) side of the road until you are crossed to the left side of the road on Turners Beach Road.  Cross the railway line and keep left to arrive back in Blackburn Drive, running towards the start/finish. This completes one lap, where runners will tag their next team member.  The race will be two laps of this course for each runner.

Race Map

Parking and toilets for this race are at McKenna Park, Three Mile Line Rd, Burnie.

The course starts on the northern side of Three Mile Line Rd west of the Tas Networks Driveway. Runners then head west on the northern footpath.  A marshal will cross runners through the roundabouts at Woniora Rd and Mooreville Rd. At approx. 3km the runners turn right onto West Mooreville Rd. Staying on West Mooreville Rd runners continue until approx. 7km when West Mooreville Rd ends; here runners turn right, following the western footpath along Mooreville Rd. At approximately 8.5km, runners will be crossed to the eastern side of Mooreville Rd by a marshal. At the roundabout intersection of Mooreville Rd and Three Mile Line Rd, runners turn left and follow the northern footpath of Three Mile Line Rd to the finish chute, again crossing by marshal at Woniora Rd.

  • It is imperative that runners remain on RHS of road and only cross at marshal points where they can be easily seen by traffic;
  • Please avoid overtaking where possible on the blind bend, approaching East Cam Rd intersection. Runners need to keep hard right at this point.
  • Coming down off West Mooreville Rd near TLC aquatics can be slippery, runners need to take caution.
  • Toilets can be accessed 200m East of our starting point at McKenna Park Hockey Complex
  • Please be careful crossing the road near the start and finish area and ensure children are well supervised also.

Map

This course consists of a mix of road and off road track starting at the end of Port St, Port Sorell. Runners will head west along the esplanade before crossing the Panatana Rivulet via the footbridge.  After crossing the rivulet, the course takes an anticlockwise loop following the trails, crossing Panatana Dr and continuing until the trail meets Milldan Rd.  Here runners will head north along Milldan Rd briefly before turning right into Jefkins Dr, following this road for approx. 800 m before a turnaround and returning to Milldan Rd.  The course then follows Milldan Rd north until the end of this road which leads directly onto trail.  Runners will follow this trail until the footbridge to complete the loop before re-crossing the bridge and returning the start area to the finish chute.

  1. There are two road crossings at Panatana Dr and Milldan Rd.  Runners are strongly reminded that they do not have right of way and that they are expected to take due care at all crossings.
  2. The off-road sections of the race are relatively easy, but there are sections of exposed tree roots and variable lighting.  It is suggested that runners avoid using sunglasses out on course.
  3. When warming up and moving towards the start area, people are reminded that runners may be starting their race.  Please take care to avoid interfering with runners already on course.

Course Map

This race is a relay where each team member covers the same 5 km course.  The race chute will serve as the start and finish (transition for runners 1, 2 and 3) for all team members.

The race starts on the on the coastal pathway at the western end of the Penguin Surf Club building.  Runners head west on the coastal path towards Burnie for 2.5km, turn at the turn cone and return to the transition with the next runner or finish.

The coastal path is 3.5m wide.  However, as runners will be travelling along the path in both directions throughout the race, competitors are reminded that they must keep to the left-hand side of the path at all times.  Please overtake slower runners only when safe to do so.

All warmups should be completed on the pathway to the east of the Penguin Surf Club to avoid crossing the roads or interfering with those that are racing. Club members are asked to be courteous to members of the public using the coastal pathway at all times.
