President’s welcome to the 2025 season

Formed in 1968, the PCCCT – Running Club welcomes all members, new, old and returning, and their families to the 2025 season.

For those new to the club, we aim to promote and hold competitive running events in NW Tasmania. All races are handicapped based on ability.

The PCCCT run races over varying distances on road, paths and trails. From 5km path races to a road half marathon and a 23km trail race we cater to a range of preferences. Throughout we also offer teams relay races either as standalone events or in conjunction with other solo events.

For kids, injured runners and those looking for an easier run or walk, shorter, 600m to 2km, nominated time events are held prior to the main race. Estimate your finishing time and the closest estimates are the winners.

The 2025 season will incorporate 19 events, broken into 5 blocks of 3 or 4 weeks with a week’s rest between blocks. A best as possible, rest weeks have been aligned with long weekends and significant days such as Mother’s Day.

In 2025, the club’s iconic races, the Burnie to Ridgley Mountain Classic, and Wynyard to Burnie Feature Race will again be standouts.  The Feature Race will be the last event of the season with thanks to our fantastic returning sponsor – Simons Carpets. Returning for its second edition is the challenging 23km Iron Trail run over the mountain bike trails from Latrobe to Railton and return.

Five teams races are planned with, the 4x5km Penguin, 4×10.55km Teams Marathon, 2×10.55km Teams Half Marathon and 3x 2 alternating 3.5km laps at Turners Beach all returning. In addition, a two runner Team relay is planned to run in conjunction with the Iron Trail, with each runner completing either the Latrobe to Railton or Railton to Latrobe leg.

The Club gratefully acknowledges our wonderful sponsors. Please support them in return and mention the Club when you do.

The PCCCT is, as always, indebted to our volunteers.  Without their efforts running our club would not be possible.  Anyone wishing to assist the club is always welcome.

I wish everyone a safe and enjoyable season.
