Race three of the PCCCT season was held on Sunday morning, with beautiful sunny weather greeting fifty-three runners at Port Sorell for the Glow Cosmetics 7km Handicap.
Only being the second time this course has been used, it was unfamiliar for many members. This provided runners with an extra challenge of pacing themselves through the changing surfaces underfoot. Much of the course is on sandy single trail, which was well received by competitors.
After two second places in the previous two races, Greg Malley finally broke the tape for his first win of the season with a handy margin of 29 seconds back to the next runner. Malley re-joined the club last year after four years away and has been working hard over the summer to improve his pace. Running a consistent distance every week has proved crucial to his improvement.
Storming home into second place was Sam Lovatt, recording the third fastest time of the race.
Rounding out the top three was fifteen-year-old Dominic Troughton. Dominic has stepped up to the handicap races this year after running the nominated time events in years past and looks a strong chance of a win this year with his constant improvement.
Thomas Murton recorded the fastest time for the males, whilst Brooke Fehlberg narrowly recorded the fastest for the females, only being one second faster than new member Felicity Lovatt.
The nominated time winners were Libby Crispin and Lachie Riley.
Members are reminded that there will be no race next weekend due to Easter.
